Objetivos Gerais / Objectives
O objectivo da UC está centrado no desenvolvimento de conhecimentos e competências avançadas para a conceção, planeamento e realização de um projeto de investigação para tese de doutoramento em ciências da comunicação. Esta unidade curricular destina-se a acompanhar o doutorando na escolha do seu tema de doutoramento e na elaboração do respectivo projecto em ciências da comunicação. A UC culmina com a apresentação e defesa do projecto referido, perante um júri constituído por doutorados internos e externos. A aprovação do projecto é condição indispensável para o ingresso no 2º ano do Curso Doutoral.
Objetivos de Aprendizagem e a sua compatibilidade com o método de ensino (conhecimentos, aptidões e competências a desenvolver pelos estudantes) / Learning outcomes
O estudante que complete com sucesso esta UC será capaz de: OA1. Identificar os requisitos e as componentes principais de um projeto de investigação na área das ciências da comunicação, com parâmetros académicos exigentes em termos de qualidade e ética; OA2. Conceber um projeto de tese de doutoramento em ciências da comunicação que contribua para o avanço do conhecimento sobre fenómenos sociais, económicos, políticos e culturais tendo por objeto o estudo da comunicação e/ou dos instrumentos teóricos e metodológicos das ciências da comunicação, como por exemplo os métodos digitais, a um nível suscetível de publicação científica; OA3. Planear o desenvolvimento da investigação de maneira consistente, exequível e ajustada ao período de tempo disponível para a realização da tese de doutoramento.

Avaliação / Assessment
A avaliação incide sobre: i) a participação no seminário; ii) a elaboração de um projeto de investigação para tese de doutoramento, apresentado em documento escrito segundo modelo FCT.
Metodologias de Ensino / Teaching methodologies
Contacto direto do docente com os alunos em seminário e orientação tutorial. Trabalho autónomo dos alunos: a) participação no seminário; b) contacto com projetos num centro de investigação, com teses de doutoramento em ciências da comunicação, e com revistas científicas relevantes para o projeto doutoral; c) elaboração de um projeto de investigação para tese de doutoramento, com apoio de um orientador, em documento escrito segundo modelo FCT; d) apresentação e debate do projeto no seminário.
Demonstração da coerência das metodologias de ensino e avaliação com os objetivos de aprendizagem da UC / Evidence that the teaching and assessment methodologies are appropriate for the learning outcomes
As primeiras sessões do seminário visam o debate aprofundado e crítico dos principais tópicos dos conteúdos programáticos. As sessões seguintes têm como objetivo a apresentação e debate das primeiras versões dos projetos de cada aluno. O trabalho autónomo de cada aluno consiste fundamentalmente na preparação, apresentação, debate e aperfeiçoamento do seu projeto de investigação para tese de doutoramento. Esta UC foi criada para funcionar como apoio permanente à construção do projecto de doutoramento em ciências da comunicação, pelo que, metodologicamente, investe na distinção entre tema e objecto de investigação, apresentando critérios que presidam à adequada escolha da amostragem, à exposição de metodologias adaptadas aos temas escolhidos pelos doutorandos e na sugestão de bibliografias. Nesta UC acompanha-se a construção do projecto, constituindo um espaço de diálogo/debate entre o docente e os doutorandos, bem como um espaço de diálogo/debate entre os próprios doutorandos ao serem convidados a comentar as opções efectuadas por cada um. Dada a sua natureza, este Seminário decorre, em grande parte, segundo o grau de empenhamento dos doutorandos que o frequentam. Cabe, no entanto, ao docente responsável, a tarefa de propor constantemente novas questões, de detectar debilidades e complementar projectos em construção. Pedagogicamente, este Seminário convida os doutorandos a partilhar as suas dúvidas e os seus pressupostos, colaborando no sentido de se ultrapassarem as barreiras que, frequentemente, impedem a exposição pública dos trabalhos pessoais.
