Conhecimento básico dos métodos das ciências sociais e do sistema político nacional; noções de teorias de análise de políticas; conhecimento geral sobre a União Europeia. Compreensão da lingua inglesa.

Objetivos Gerais / Objectives

A unidade curricular visa consolidar o conhecimento empírico e a compreensão teórica do funcionamento das instituições europeias, dos processos políticos multinível de tomada de decisão na União Europeia, bem como a nível global/internacional. Trabalhos académicos recentes nesta área servirão de base às discussões em aula.

Objetivos de Aprendizagem e a sua compatibilidade com o método de ensino (conhecimentos, aptidões e competências a desenvolver pelos estudantes) / Learning outcomes

Os estudantes aprenderão a aplicar diferentes perspectivas teóricas - das teorias neo-institucionalistas às teorias da análise de políticas - às políticas Europeias. Por outro lado, o sistema europeu e a sua interação com outros atores globais (outras organizações internacionais) será objeto de análise. Um outro objetivo didático fundamental é o de encorajar os estudantes a desenvolver a sua própria questão de pesquisa no âmbito dos temas da unidade curricular, refletindo sobre a modalidade de análise a adotar e desenvolvendo um programa de trabalho individual. Finalmente, pretende-se treinar competências de análise, tanto orais, no âmbito de apresentações em aula, como escritas.

A coerência do programa com os objetivos da unidade curricular é demonstrada pela lista de tópicos acima referidos.

Avaliação / Assessment

A realização da avaliação ao longo do semestre inclui: 1) desenvolvimento de uma questão de pesquisa e identificação de uma abordagem teórica/analítica (30%) e trabalho final individual escrito (70%). O trabalho final escrito pode ser um exercício de investigação (até 7 pgs.) ou uma revisão da literatura sobre uma questão específica no domínio da análise das políticas europeias e internacionais. (até 7 pgs.). A avaliação por exame consiste na elaboração de um trabalho final escrito individual (7 pp).

Metodologias de Ensino / Teaching methodologies

- Introdução ao tema da aula pelo docente - Discussão sobre o tema, com base na bibliografia básica da aula - 1-2 apresentações de alunos Os estudantes são encorajados a desenvolver as suas próprias questões de pesquisa e respetivas estratégias metodológicas para levar a cabo a sua investigação.

A unidade curricular está concebida para estudantes de nível pós-graduado (mestrado e doutoramento), ou seja, para estudantes com um conhecimento básico da área que pretendam discutir tópicos actuais e controversos, e interessados nas metodologias utilizadas para produzir trabalho de investigação de elevada qualidade. Nesta medida, a escolha de trabalho académico de grande qualidade como base de aprendizagem é muito valorizador. Por outro lado, a u.c aspira a introduzir os alunos ao desenvolvimento e implementação do seu próprio trabalho de investigação. O encorajamento ao trabalho autónomo e independente dos estudantes (apresentações na aula, apresentação do desenho dos seus projectos escritos) é aqui um elemento fundamental. Finalmente , ao proporcionar acesso electrónico a um conjunto alagado de referências e trabalhos científicos de elevada qualidade ajuda os estudantes a envolverem-se e aprofundarem a sua própria pesquisa.

Devido à situação provocada pela COVID-19, o processo de avaliação poderá sofrer algumas adaptações, que serão comunicadas oportunamente, caso tal venha a ser necessário.
