Invited Talk: Dr Shakeel Khoja, Machine Reading Comprehension (MRC): A Complete Guide.

11 Março 2024, 18:00 Fernando Batista

Abstract: MRC comprehension involves the process of reading and understanding textual information to answer questions related to it. It finds practical applications in domain-specific FAQs, search engines, and dialogue systems. Resource-rich languages like English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, etc., benefit from the availability of numerous datasets and resources; however, building MRC systems for low-resource languages (LRL) with limited datasets, such as Vietnamese, Hindi, Urdu, and Portuguese etc. poses significant challenges. This talk will address the building blocks of MRCs, the anatomy of datasets used, their developmental progress in the last few years, and how to promote LRLs to come up with feasible solutions.
