A social-psychological approach to citizenship

In this seminar, we will start with explicating the theoretical basis of a social-psychological approach to citizenship. We will then move on to empirical examples coming from different research projects in Greece and Cyprus, in which citizenship is at stake. The focus will be on LGBT+ and migrants' citizenship rights. In these different fields, we will discuss how citizenship is negotiated by different actors, with differential power in society and what are the implications of citizenship constructions for LGBT+ and migrants' inclusion and exclusion in society.
