An introduction to Content Analysis

I - What is Content Analysis: Misconceptions and Myths, Definitions, Functions, Directions and Subjects.

II- Operationalization of content analysis: selecting the texts, Read and Interpret the texts, Creating the Dimensions and categories, Coding the segments.

III- Open debate of each project's main ideas in regards to the number and types of texts used, theoretical approach and goal, acess to privileged informants, direction of content analysis (vertical and/or horizontal), and analytical strategy (description, comparison, triangulation). An individualized feedback was provided and co-discussed.

The topic to discuss/explore: Research design & Research methods
Students were invited to present their PhD projects and to explain why they only chose qualitative research methods
Students were also challenged to think about how they could use quantitative research methods.
