The course addresses Globalization and International Business providing an overview of the topic, with a focus on the specificities arising from the international environment and a core theme on entry modes. At the end of the course students should be able to undertake a strategic plan for foreign market entry, including product/market and entry mode selection. They should also be able to assess the main costs and risks of entering foreign markets. The learning goals (LG) are stated as follows: LG 1 - understand the environmental conditions relevant for IB; LG 2 - identify key strategic alternatives for foreign market entry; LG3 - understand coordination and control mechanisms; LG4 - evaluate market and political risk; LG5 - identify the internationalization potential of new ventures.
