This session introduced the students to different forms of inequalities at different geographical scales (e.g., urban, inter/national, global). The session sought to generate awareness that inequalities are manifestations of power relations and as such products of historical processes, that they are socially (re)produced and often mutually reinforcing, and that the ways we understand them depend on theoretical knowledge.
